I gave Tia (Mop as Helen and Becky know her), Tansy (previously Blossom) and Teasle their first hair cut since arriving here yesterday.
I can't understand why people neglect their long hairs as its just so painful to them but I also find it so relaxing spending time with them.
Anyway, point of the story was to say how we got on. Whiskey my little sheltie boy is getting used to the haircuts now and stays quite cool. Teasle was a complete squealer - you would have thought I was individually plucking each hair with a pair of tweezers instead of just giving her a nice trim. Tansy was quite calm and very well behaved and didn't need that much taken off as think Helen or Becky may have given her a trim already. Tia who is only a baby, I expected to be the worst as she squeals a fair bit when being brushed, was a saint. She was quiet and stayed quite still even though she needed quite a good trim and her hair is very soft and silky and grows very fast.
I'd heard so many times about how perus can be divas when being groomed and really not like it but Teasle (lunkarya) is far worse than the perus. Her curls are thick and wavy on top but round her rear and underneath they are much tighter, small curls. I was told best to use an afro comb on her. I found it really hard to get one but found a top and tail comb which has long, wide teeth like an afro at one end and the handle of it is an ordinary comb. Its very handy as the afro end suits Teasle's hair and the comb part is great for the other long hairs.
Haven't got enough posts yet to send a PM so if Becky sees this, wondering what Anya is like when being groomed and also is she doing well with her veg now?
