Growing grass indoors

Has anyone grown grass for their piggies indoors?
Do you have any tips on growing medium (soil, newspaper, cotton wool?), what kind of grass seed, etc?

I tried to grow it indoors in compost but the grass grew mould. I think grass needs really good air flow. I grow it in pots close to the house in the winter where it is more sheltered than the lawn. I have had some success with wheatgrass indoors in a shallow tray of compost but I have 8 piggies and the seed is expensive so I gave up with it as I didn't have room indoors to grow enough.

I read somewhere else that you could grow it on cotton wool, so I have tried some in a small dish and it is about 4 cm long after 1 week.
