cuddles

a woman come to the rescue and fell in love with a boar i had that wasnt realy for sale as he was happy to lives with the boys here.she went on and on about how wonderful he was and how she had looked everywhere then before she left she mentioned she wanted to show him.I told her to remember why all the rest are here at the rescue and that if she didnt want him he had to come back to me.well.i recently learned that she is breeding off him! well i rang her and said i wanted him to come back as i dont agree with putting more out there as i rescue so many unwanted ones.she said it wasnt the same one and the one i sold her had died and i had no leg to stand on!grrrr
grrrrrrrrrrrr

That does indeed suck!
It's obviously why she was so keen to take one in particular if she deemed him good breeding stock.
With all the home checks in the world you can never really know what one might do with the little guys further down the line and guess you just can't prove he is the he you entrusted her with.
Console yourself with the knowledge you done your best by him

I think in future just trust your instincts and don't rehome to people you aren't sure of. :(

Thats horrible poor you some people are so grrrrrrrrr
Hope your feeling better

Why dont you give her a surprise visit to see if it is the boar you gave to her? I find it hard to believe he has just died, in whitch case she hasnt been caring for the guinnea pig properly! I'm not surprised you are angry, I would be too! xx

Horrible woman.:( I suppose its like people showing dogs - if they do well then people want to have a pup from them and so this is what this woman has done.:( Was he a special breed?/

Thats a good idea actully you should go round there and see.

Grr! Go round there and rescue all her pigs! How DARE she breed from him if she wasn't honest about her intentions? She shouldn't be allowed. Does she even know about breeding? Does she know she can re-home or keep the piglets? GRRRRRRRRRRRR pow-pow:o?/grrrr:(mallethead

you should always draw up a legally binding contract that all adoptees have to sign to say they will look after the animal for the duration of its life, including trips to the vet as necessary, if they can no longer care for it it must be returned to you, and that they agree to not breed from the animal.

It can be best to rehome piggies on a foster basis with the clause you can reclaim them at any time. Although to enforce this can be difficult and require legal action. If in the future you have any doubts at all you have every right to tell the person they cannot have the guinea pig at all. So sorry to hear about this little boy and what happened.

I'm so sorry. That was very rude of her to do that to you and your piggy.grrrr
