ok so i feed my pigglers p@h nuggets and gerty museli mixed together,i just changed it and now its p@h nuggets and burgess supa guinea, but it seems they are not eating as much, should i switch back to gerty ? are the storys true about how bad it is for them ?
please help
thanks

My first guineas were on Gerty's. I had to regularly throw away more than half of it because the piggies were eating so selectively (especially one), apart form them not getting all the right nutrients. I put in a mineral lick and it disappeared in record time whereas any piggies on pellets will simply ignore it because they don't need it! They probably need to eat less because they have all the right stuff in one go. I would certainly not go back, if I were you!

ok thanks, and yes your right, when on gerty they do love the mineral lick, now not so much !
they are eating the supa but not as much or i could be imagining it !
they get plenty of veg also !

so to recap is feeding them p@h nuggets mixed with supa guinea ok ?

Ive always used Gerty for over 11 years now.. Well I did try Excel years back but my pigs werent having it! My current three dont select feed at all as they only get it in the morning and by the follow morning its all gone :)

Though I have recently switched to Wagg Crunch and again they are selective feeding

Mine went off Burgess after about a year, but are still happy on p@h which are actually better a better consistency for chewing, being of a comparable quality otherwise. I mix them with Burgess oregano, supermarket brands, even the odd occasional muesli (although never more than a quarter of the total pellet mix! And nothing I would try too soon after a shift off). However, it is easier to mix and match with 11 piggies than with two and I only feed about 1/2 - 3/4 of a handful per piggy per day.

Over the years, I have occasionally had problems of getting hold of a specific brand, so I try not to fixate the piggy tastes so much that it makes switching difficult. Adding differend brands as an extra keep the piggies interested; it's like us eating different breads...

Yes very true.
Yeah mine only get about a small handful or so of feed per piggy a day. Though no matter how much you feed Bounty hes always wanting more rolleyes:p

all good now, they seem to be tucking in just fine !
