Grumpy piggy

Hi All
I sadly lost one of my very much loved piggies a week ago. Had all 4 since they were 6 weeks old and they are all 5.
Since Coco died a week ago there has been constant fighting going on.
The smallest most sweet one seems to have become incredible annoyed with the other 2 and chases them nipping and being very vocal.
All 3 have had a vets check over this week so I can be sure they were healthy.
Vet did find little lumps in cookies belly which he said could explain her behaviour.
I’m going abroad Tuesday for a month and they are going into luxury boarding but I’m worried.
Anyone have any advice or understand what’s going on?

The death of a group member, especially a more highly ranked one/leader, can upset the hierarchy and start a new hierarchy sort out. At the worst it can lead to a group falling apart.

PS: Has your vet checked for ovarian cysts?

He did say it could be cysts and to keep an eye on her weight.
My worry is now being abroad for a month.
I’ve found a great boarding place but still worried.
The piggy that died was usually the grumpy bossy one and now it’s the piggy she shared most with.

I’d make sure the boarding place is aware of the change of herd and dynamics so they can keep an eye on this for you. It sounds like they are just trying to sort out who will take over as top sow.
