After only recently getting Thelma over her last UTI, I noticed today that she was struggling to pee and was eating more of her poops including poops already in the cage from the other piggies. Alarm bells went off so got a bowl out and did a sample. Have just checked the results and her protein, PH and blood levels are off the chart, not only that but her glucose level is slightly raised too.

I honestly feel like crying. As before she seems fine in herself (except when she pees) is eating and drinking etc. I have spoken to the Vet (Sally at Tilehurst) and we are starting her on some antibiotics (Baytril 1ml daily, a high dose to try bring the p.h levels down, its 8.5 at the moment). I will take her down on Monday if no improvement and the vet will then be happy to give me Septrin - they have a policy of treating with Baytril first.

I'm still having problems with my health from Christmas when I had the operation, and now have the additional problem of Reactive Arthropathy which is similar to arthritis caused by a rare side effect of the antibiotics I have been on, I'm absolutely exhausted, and really struggling at the moment not sure how I am going to cope if it was like the last two times, when she needed round the clock care. Not only that but Louise's eye has flared up again, and she is showing signs of dandruff, so full on baths for all tomorrow. I will have to dig deep and get the strength from somewhere.
Sorry for the moan x

HUGS

There are times when everything seems to wrong, doesn't it? UTI can be so hard to get rid of and being diabetic makes all more tricky.

Wishing you the best for yourself and your two girls!

Thanks Wiebke, these things always do seem to come at once, and at the moment its just been one thing after another :(

Sorry to hear this, I was only thinking bout Thelma the other day. Hope she and Louise get well soon. Hopefully you've caught it early and the antibiotics will kick in quickly. Healing vibes to your girls and hugs to you x

:( big hugs! It's good that you've caught it early and hopefully you'll be on top of it soon! Really hope you feel better soon and sending healing vibes Thelma's way! Just take one step at a time :) xx

Oh no poor you and poor girls!
If there's any thing I can do to help don't hesitate to ask I'm not that far from you.
Big hugs, hope your girls are better soon.
