Hi! My piggies fur is getting long, their dad is a Sheltie!
Any advice on how to bath a guinea pig would be so helpful!
thanks

I cut our long hair pigs peppers hair around once a month, keeping the fur around his bum and bits short! You don’t want to bath them very often as it can strip the oils from their skin. When it is bath time we use shampoo from gorgeous Guineas, put a little warm water in a bowl in the sink and run him under that tap.. just don’t let the water get too deep. Then it’s just a case of shampoo and rinse throughly wrap up in a towel, we blow dry him a bit to take the damp off but only until he lets us!

I have a long haired guinea pig.
I keep the fur around her bum trimmed short and just use I scented baby wipes if she needs cleaning.
I very rarely need to give her a bum bath.

Hi!

Stay off baths as much as possible as over-bathing can cause skin problems in the long term due to you wiping the skin mibrobiome every time you do this; dry skin problems and an overproductive grease gland are not fun.

It is much better to keep on top of issues with judicious hair cutting in the crucial areas and just do a little bum bath with plain water if needed, and keep the hair cut short enough to allow natural behaviour and - in summer - prevent overheating.
