Hi all.

My lovely 5year old George seems to not be drinking. He is eating his nuggets and hay, but the bottle and bowl of water is untouched. His fur was waxy and his eyes sunk, so we stepped in syringing water, which seems to have perked him up but he’s only eating his soft veggies and leaving anything too hard. His poos are on the thin side. He had a dental in April and he seems to need one every 6 months so we’re not due yet, and his little tongue is moving and doesn’t seem trapped? He feels bony but I’ve weighed him and he’s not lost any weight? I’m going to get him into the vets pronto but any ideas whilst we wait?

I’m sorry to hear that.

All you can do while you wait for an appointment is weigh him every morning and prepare to step in with syringe feeding a recovery feed. Thin poops indicate a reduction in hay intake (if he is avoiding hard things then it is possible he isn’t taking in quite as much hay as necessary).
Do continue to carefully Syringe water to him.

I hope he is ok
