I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if anyone has any advice. I have a almost 2 year old guinea pig who has been acting really since yesterday. Yesterday morning I fed him and gave him hay and he pop-corned up to the hay rack and ate (as he always does). When I got home around dinner time I noticed he had not ate any of his veggies and was sat in one corner of his cage. For the rest of the day he has not moved from that spot so I took him out and managed to get him to eat some cucumber. When I put him back in his cage he just sat there and didn't move so about a half hour later I moved him back to the corner and he still hasn't moved.. He will not run up or move in the cage when I try to motivate him with veggies 😔. He is also acting very skittish and seems like he does not recognize his own cage, he does not move from the spot but is eating some veggies if i place them right in front of them. He is still pooping. He looks fine but he is just acting really strange and I am worried.

He could well be sick, its definitly worth have a vet check by a guinea pig knowledgeable vet. Or your pig could have got spooked by something. A strange noise maybe.

Hi!

Please see a vet promptly. Be aware that the poo output is lagging behind a day or two to the input and that hay is making over 80% of the daily food intake, not veg. If he hasn't moved, he has lost out on a lot more feed than you think during the day.

Switch from weighing weekly to weighing daily at the same time in order to monitor the real food intake and switch to syringe feed to pu and watering accordingly; mushed up pellets will do in a pinch.

This guide here is what you can do to care for a guinea pig until you can see a vet: Emergency and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

He is eating, but he will only eat if the food is right in front of his face. I am suspecting he is possibly going blind. I have a vet appointment made for him.

All the best for the vet appointment. You will hopefully find our care tips helpful!

Def go vets, incase he is sick. But i think he has been spooked. Make sure you offer hay where he is hiding and put the water bottle close by or under a cover of somesort, and if you can, try not to panic, guinea pigs do pick up on it👍

I can only echo others - a vet trip is your best course of action.
Let us know how you get on.

Don’t panic if he is going blind - my Merab, the piggy in my avatar, was blind for the last 2-3 years of her life and apart from being a bit more cautious it didn’t cramp her style.
