Hi all,
My guinea pig was diagnosed with gut statis a week or so ago. She is fine and recovered well, back to eating and pooping. She’s been on metacam and emeprid to help with pain and movement of gut. She’s been given this recovery food named ‘emeraid herbivore recovery food’. Problem is, she’s now wanting that and not much hay and pellets as she normally would, she keeps squeaking and begging every time someone walks in the room for this stuff. She’s been eating her other normal bits and drinking but just wants her recovery food. We’ve brought more for her as we don’t want her to starve of course but is this normal? I don’t want her to just live off that, is there anyway to wean her? The vet did say that her gut statis medication will make her very hungry, She’s stopped taking it yesterday so could it be that? Has anyone else had this problem? Or is it just a thing where she will just have to keep having?
Thanks x
