recently one of our guinea pigs died and our remaining pig is all alone- we’re looking into adopting her a friend but I have a question about age. My current pig is 3 and I’m wondering if younger guinea pigs can be with her or would it be best to try and get a friend around the same age? ( first time piggy owner)

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry for your loss.

The deciding factor of a successful bond is character compatibility, age is far less relevant. However, having a younger piggy means the younger one cannot challenge for dominance and babies are most often accepted.
The safest way to find a new friend is via dating at a rescue centre as that way your piggy chooses her own new friend which will result in a good bond.

Welcome to the forum.
So sorry for your loss.
The Rainbow Bridge thread is a place where you can post a tribute to your piggy.

When Merab’s cage mate died I bonded her with 2 baby sows which worked well.
I hope you find a lovely companion for your bereaved girl.
Look after yourself as you grieve too.
