Guinea Pig Attack :(

sorry to hear this... its very irresponsible of the dog owner to let her dog go wandering about.. hope the piggies are ok x

My new hutch is here and it looks really good
It has actual bars that go into the wood, so hopefully a dog won't get through. If it does it will split the wood, in hoping the lady stays away but from speaking to other neighbours it sounds like she her dog is often on our garden looking at the Guinea pigs and we are luckily it has only attacked 3 times. Some neighbours have even asked her why she is there and she says her dog is being friendly, they are luckily keeping an eye out for her incase anything happens whilst we are out at work etc.
Here is a picture of it just after it had been put together.
Not sure if the ramp will be too steap but I have an idea of how I can sort it

That is a lovely looking hutch you got. Boyfriend did a great thing in ordering it for your guinea pigs.
The lady with the dog should take how you feel about her dog is around your pets and realise that she's the problem and keep away. :hug:To you and your guinea pigs new home

Gorgeous hutch! Friendly? Well, dogs are funny creatures, maybe he does just want to play, who knows? But of course dogs are so much bigger than piggies and could easily injure them even if they try not to.
Let us know how it goes, interesting that she's been bothering other neighbours:hmm:

That is a lovely hutch and those bars are the ones I was talking about. Much safer :)

You could always threaten the lady telling you you will have no choice but to phone the police if she doesn't back off as she's technically trespassing and shouldn't be on your property without your permission!

Yeah I was wanting to report after the 3rd attack but due to the shifts I was working I wasn't able to as I wouldn't be home when they might want to do a visit to view the damage.
If I happens again I'll be straight on the phone - hopefully it won't

I'm SO glad that your guinea pigs weren't hurt by the dog. This woman needs to know that she has a legal duty to keep her dog under control and not allow it in other people's gardens! Best of luck to you and your guinea pigs, so glad your boyfriend got them a nice new hutch to keep them safe instead of rehoming them ☺

My main concern here is the fact the woman has a dog she obviously cannot control roaming off the leash. What if there were small children in the area as well as your pets and the pets of others? Sure she might say the dog is "friendly" but that does not mean it will display safe and predictable behavior when some instincts are triggered.
Also your piggies may suffer from shock from the encounters which can be just as dangerous as the dog actually getting a hold of them.

She should not be walking that dog off the leash if she can't keep it out of peoples gardens. Whether your garden is fenced in or not is a moot point, she is entering private property every time she has to retrieve her dog from your yard.

I am glad your piggies are safely indoors for the time being.
