guinea pig attacked by a rat -any advise to help til i get to vet

i am please to report that today i saw jennifer eating her dry food :) also she continues to have her old personality shine through XD today when i put the veg in she was straight in the food bowl wheeking XD

Thats great! Poor little girl must have had such a fright when the rat bit her, no wonder she was quiet. Sounds like she is putting in behind her now! You'll have to post some pics of the little lady!

hey everyone
Jennifer seems to have knocked the scab off her main injury and has started it bleeding all over again :(
I've stopped it bleeding but i was wondering what i could do to stop her knockng another scab off - i keep having mages of her wearing a tiny cone like what they put on dogs lol

apart from that she seems fine :) limp is now nealry totally gone although she still isn;t holding her head up properly. She's eating and drinking fine and seems to be full of life again =D

Don't worry too much about the scab coming off the wound. The area will slowly and surely heal. Trying to protect the area is usually more trouble than it is worth and would achieve very little.

I hope that Jennifer is doing OK today and recovering further?
 
I really don;t know how she did it at her age, but despite the odds being staked against her, Jennifer seems to be pretty much 100% now :))

When she hears a bag rustle, she's out out demanding food! Eating on her own, drinking on her own, running round, pushing her mum away from the food bowl!

Her wound has scabbed over again and I'm hoping she'll leave it alone this time and not knock it off again!

Wonderful news, I am so pleased to hear how well she has recovered! Fingers crossed she leaves her scabs alone so they can heal over nicely.
