i have 3 pigs atm. i’d like more. i’ve looked at my local rescue and they have one girl i think i’m going to get. i would then have 2 boys left. i don’t have to yet but soon they will have to all go into the same air space so the boys will fight. i think i’m going to buy a girl from a breeder and she can get pregnant with one of my boys. hope fully she’ll have at least one baby girl so that one can go with my last boy. depending on the genders of the other babies, ( if there are any) i’ll probably keep them. i know breeding is frowned upon but if i keep all of the babies that will be okay right? i rescued all 3 of my boys and yes it is legal to breed them since i didn’t officially get them from a rescue. the boy who will be the dad is abt 2.

Hi. Discussion of breeding is not permitted on this forum and is clearly stated in the terms and rules that all members click to agree to when they sign up to the forum. We will not provide information or support for anyone intentionally breeding.

I just wanted to add in terms of your boys that sharing air space with a female is not a guarantee that they will fall out. Yes the pheromones can cause tension but if set out right shouldn't be a problem. We have members with boar pairs in the same room as sows

sorry i didn't realize. ): i’ll look into adopting other females from the shelter

Hi!

We do not support breeding in any form and shape - and that covers any intentional putting together of sows and boars with the purpose of procreation.

Our terms and rules, which you should have read and to which you have consented as part of the registering process, are very clear and explicit on that score after years of people trying to wiggle their way round the rules any way they can.

Please keep in mind that even with the best of care every 5th birth ends with the death of babies and/or mothers; those are not odds I would personally deliberately risk. It is emotionally very taxing for us to support and comfort all the members who are not responsible for a pregnancy; being there for those who have chosen the risk is not something that we are prepared to do. Have a look at our pregnancy section and see just how littered with fatalities it is yourself! :(

You can keep boars and sows in the same room as long as you follow the rules in our Boar guide in chapter III (Boar dos and don'ts; the last part deals with boars and sows together); generally it is however better to keep the genders separate when you have an already bonded boar pair, especially when they are sub-adults/teenagers.
