I have a pair of boars, Ernie is 7 and Buddy is coming up for 4. They’ve been together for 3 years. Over the last three weeks Buddy has been really bullying Ernie. He’s chasing him around the cage, chasing him off food even though we have two bowls/two veg piles. Ernie just squeaks all the time because he’s being chased constantly. What would you advise to do? Separate?

If it is definite bullying and has become too much a short term separation to allow tensions to settle and then a neutral territory reintroduction to allow them to decide if they want to remain together.

It would also be a good idea to have Buddy vet checked. Sometimes this kind of change in behaviour can be an alert a health issue

Ok. Are they still together or have you done a temporary separation and neutral territory reintroduction?
Have you been able to book a vet appointment?

I would also ask how Ernie's weight is?
Is he maintaining his regular weight?
Weight loss can be a sign that he is being kept away from food which is not good.

Do you have a cage that you can put a divider in so they can have a break from each other like Piggies&Buns suggested.
