So this is my 2 month old guinea pig and I realized this morning he had a mark on his face. Now for the past few days I kept him and my older male in the same enclosure. 90% of the time they are fine with occasional squeeks. I’m concerned about this because he is so little and it seems fresh. How do I prevent infection? How do ensure the older one won’t hurt him! Should I separate them?
I’m at work so I can’t always keep them supervised (hence why I got another guinea pig)
Should I take him to the vet? I keep an adequate amount of hay in there
Help please

I would take to the vet for a check up and ensure there is no infection. It's worth noting that it's common for fungal infections like ringworm to start on the face and this often gets mistaken for a bite mark or scratch initially so it would be worth getting to checked to confirm exactly what it is. Hopefully it was a misjudged nip rather than a full on bite (I think you would know from the atmosphere and fighting if they had fallen out completely) that will heal nicely on its own but it's better to be safe than sorry

It looks like a minor nip rather than an aggressive bite. Usually boars can be too dominant with eachother and they accidently hurt eachother. As long as there is no blood drawn, intense teeth chattering, lunging, and intense biting then dont separate them. As stated above please still see an experianced small animal or exotic vet for treatment.
