Hi, I live in London, and was wondering if anybody knew of somebody that boards GP's when a person is away. I dont go away very often, and if I do its only for a day or two. I have to go away for 2 nights in a couple of months, and wanted somebody that boards in or within travelling distance of London.

Thanks for your help.

John,

I am in kent sorry i am to far for you i think!

:) I'm in Reading Berkshire if you can get here. Will happily look after them.

PS I need to know how many and how many cages they need :) ie do they live together?

Hi Everybody, thanks for your replies. I really appreciate the offers. :)

They are three boars, a six month old, a 4 month old and a 6 and a bit week old, they are getting on ok at the moment, but not sure what they will be like in two months or so. Hi karenrgpr, Reading is good as I'm going home to Wales for the weekend, and its on the way. Are you far from the station, as I will be going by train?

I am within easy reach of Tilehurst Station, Reading West and Reading main station, I guess you'll be using the main one which is easy for me to get to :) I'm happy to look after them but can't be responsible for any falling out that may happen while they're here. You're very brave having that combination! I'll PM you a boarding document that you need to fill out. You will also need to join CCT if not already so your guineas can receive treatment from our local rodentologist, they will go to the vets in the first instance (CCT approved) but are sometimes referred. :)

Hi karenrgpr, do you take the GP's as a matter of course to the vets for check ups, or is that just in case they have any problems when they are in your care? I am a member of CCT, have been to see Vedra a couple of times with one of my first GPs, and I'm hoping to take the GP course myself soon. I've just given each of them some Ivermectin topically as a part of their treatment, since coming here. I've also just trimmed their nails. I havent had a look at their teeth, as I'm not that confident with teeth yet. I'm not holding up much hope with the three of them being together for long, they may well be separated by the time I get to go away. :( I will be using the main Reading station, as that's the one I go through to Cardiff.

Hi Billies Mum, I live right in the centre of London, not far from Trafalgar Square. Do you live in London?

:) Not as a matter of course but you need to be registered with my vet in case I need to visit them (I just like everything done properly :) ) If you want them to have a health check while they're down here I can arrange for that to happen. I do my own pigs teeth but don't do anyone elses. Do you think 2 or 3 cages will be needed for them? Introducing a baby can throw the dynamics of any established group in my experience.

From what I remember you have a 20 minute stop in Reading when you change trains, I'm happy to come and meet you and pick them up :) I'd also like them to have a bath before they arrive and to be wormed if you do the 3 monthly worming. Sorry for all the 'rules' but I need to know where I stand :)

I can understand that, you need to be sure nothing is passed onto your own GP's. I just ordered today, a couple of things from Gorgeous Guineas, one was some shampoos and the other Bugs Be Gone, which I will do just before they come to you.

Well, the black boar did have a partner but he was the one I had to put to sleep, then he was on his own for about 6 weeks, till I could find another friend, the second boar came and he was only here two weeks and in with him for one, and the third boar came and he's only been here two weeks and in with the other for just one week. Both from breeders. At the moment things seem to be going ok. There's a bit of rumbling, but nothing really serious. It does worry me about the move though, that it might upset them in a new environment. I will have to wait and see how they are. Sorry I cant be more specific about how many cages I need right now. I dont have worming stuff though, can you do that for me?

How much will it cost for the two nights?

Thank you. :)

You have 3 boars right? :D Sorry, am getting totally confused ::)

Will PM you some details then if you want them to come here :)

Hi, sorry, it wasnt meant to confuse. :embarassed: I was trying to explain the situation here as it stands now. It is three boars yes. As it stands now they are getting on ok, there is a bit of rumbling from the the black one Porky, but not much else. They are all gaining weight and eating ok. But what they will be like in two months, I'm not sure. I bought this one without fully realising the situation with boars, and having read a lot more about it I understand now that they might not tolerate each other. :(

I live in Battersea

Ive no experience of bonding boars as i have an only pig so i think id better not offer my feeding services just yet.
However when your boys have settled down I might be able to help you out in an emergency if you cant get them to Reading
