Guinea pig bonding with owners

I’m so happy tonight! Bailey my youngest piggie at 3 & 1/2 years old is an Abyssinian, I have had him since he was a baby. He has always run away from me whilst in his cage, not wanting to be touched. Tonight Bailey had his back to me at the front of his cage, and I let him know I was there and I was able to pet him for 5 mins without a flinch! So proud does anyone else have the same breed and have a similar issue with bonding?

Breed generally has nothing to do with bonding, it just comes down to their individual personalities. As piggies get older, they usually become calmer and easier to pat
