In my Guinea Pig's shed mainly! LOL
I was with Penelope and just to see if her fur looked wet around her bum (which it wasn't) I picked her up to see. Anyway, as I am no good with knowing which hole is for which, the hole below the one that you can see obviously has something small and pink slightly sticking out of it?
Now I've googled rectal prolapse and Nel's isn't red or anything, but I'm unsure what it is and I'm very worried!

Is this normal - what hole is this?! I know I'm useless because I don't know what's what..
I'm just freaking out! Please help?!?!

thanks
xx

I'm sorry its not very good but the battery died and she kept fidgeting so its the only one i got.
i think it is her 'private' area.. infact I'm sure because i (gently) put her on her back and it was..there.

i know you cant see it very well, but its sticking out slightly :S:S:S

I cant see a thing to be able to help and advise weather its normal or not sorry.... a clearer pic would be good.

Have a look at this link here; it has pictures of boars and sows at different ages next to it.

Girls have a knob with a "y" shaped grove underneath, but when you press gently just above the privates, a boy's penis should come out; his groove should have a straight slight under the penis blob - a bit like a "i"

PS: When taking a picture, try to use the macro option and angle the privates towards the source of light.

It looks like a Y, but I think that the 'knob' is out quite a bit? :S
Or is it just me?

My guinea pig has the same shape to her area. I would say that is fine as Amelia Jane is fine with her area looking this way. Maybe other people would say something different.

If it doesn't come out when you press on the belly above it , then it should be a girl. Some can have quite pronounced knobs. How old is your girl?

She's one this month :P ..so I think that if she would be a boy it would have been known by now? (Well, un-neutered), I will check tonight.

I think the pigtures are a little confusing as most people take them from the other way up, so the Y is that way rather than that way ^ :)

I think it's the normal girly knob as they have said above (I am trying not to laugh but don't know the official term for that body part!) If you look at her tummy, holding her upright but her bottom supported on your lap, there should be a "Y" opening & where the two lines join is usually a little knobbly bit. I had one female where this was quite big & I kept checking her as she grew in case she was a "he" ! I guess, like humans piggies will have different size ears, eyes & even knobs lol rolleyes

Sorry, but naturally she was being quite fidgety, and I felt guilty pinning her down. :S I still remember when the vet did it as her voice was shrilling. D:
Ofc I would if I needed to, but I thought it might be okay like that...

Aha oh, well she is 1 year old, so she wouldn't grow anymore, would she?
It's just that from pictures of the internet there seems to be a small gap underneath the 'knob' and it isn't as large as her fills up the whole gap and does stick out of her vagina a bit.

But, thank you all for your advice, it has made me feel a lot better.
I guess it's just a little more 'obvious' than other's are... XD

Full boys at that age are pretty obvious - they have some serious treasure chests! It is the very young that can look similar. http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm
