Hello,

Just posting as I'm really not sure what my Guinea Pig, Lola, is doing. She's a newly adopted piggie that has been generally quiet (although chatty when picked up) and avoiding coming out too much when people are around but today she's been bouncing and running around, a little bit as if something is chasing her. Now I think she could just be playing now she's settled in a bit in her new environment but my other half feels it could be more serious and that something is bothering her.

Anybody have any thoughts?

It sounds to me like she is doing what is called 'zoomies' which is a happy playful full speed run around that piggies do when they are happy.

That sounds exactly like it, just thought I'd check in case anyone had experienced it and it wasn't a good thing!

That's great. Thank you for the swift reply :D.

No problem :) It's lovely to watch your piggies do something like that.

Yeah it's really cute. Just found it strange considering she'd been so reserved (I've only had her for coming up to a week) and then she was running around and bouncing on the walls basically haha :).

Glad to hear she's coming into her own a bit!

Bouncing sounds like popcorning which they do when happy/excited. All round good news!

youtube has lots of videos of piggies popcorning and zooming around... I will warn you though... you may lose an hour or two when you start watching :))

I love watching my piggies popcorn and do zoomies, makes my day knowing they are happy. The youtube vids are hilarious and totally worth a watch.
