Guinea pig cage

Ive read online thag if u keep a stone in your guinea pig cage its good to wear down nails like of course id clean it but should i put 1 in like under the water bottle is recommended its also supposed to be good to keep it in their cage to keep them cool in the summer

I have seen huge cages with hay areas that have bricks around the perimeter so that the pigs have to walk on them to get to the hay. Its better than at the water bottle as they graze on hay alot more than they drink.
