Hi, I’m sorry if this is not in the right section.
I work in a library and today I sorted out our pet care section and removed lots of outdated books. One of them suggested giving Guinea pigs dog biscuit! 😬
Now that there is no books Guinea pigs left, we need to order some more up to date, recently released ones.

Can anyone suggest anything?
I’m looking for books that have good cage size recommendations, no silly diet advice (no boiled potatoes/dog biscuits etc) and preferably published within the last 10 years as our library policy is that anything older than 10 is a bit outdated.

There is a lot of books on amazon but it’s hard to judge the content by the cover
😕

thank you!

Oh I forgot to add, it’s a secondary school library so any medical advice and similar is a bit too much. Simple care guides would be good and anything about breeds/types of guinea pigs.

I don't know any books that won't be outdated or have the wrong information I'm afraid. Could you stock the magazine as an alternative? This has up-to-date information that I think you're not likely to find in any books. Or if you can find digital versions to look through - sometimes amazon has an option to take a look at some of the content of books.

Otherwise no clue here. Good luck with your search.

No, magazines can’t be taken out of the library, get damaged easily and would need an ongoing subscription.
They also go into random issues and for a library, we need a basic care guide - most users wont be interested in an article about boar cleaning, for example.

I know that the RSPCA do care guide books for different animals (I assume there is one for guinea pigs), I used to have one when I had a hamster - this was about 10 years ago now and the information in it seemed quite good and easy to understand, however I am unsure if these would be outdated or not as I don’t actually have the guinea pig one and I don’t know if they update them often. Might be worth a google though🤷🏼‍♀️

I got rid of the rabbit one today as the information in it was terrible so I’m not sure what the guinea pig one is like.

does anyone have it and would be willing to share some pictures? 😊
