Guinea Pig Companion?

Hi my name is Isabelle I am new to this forum I have a guinea pig called honey she is around 3 and she is currently cowered in the corner of the room. Her sister died earlier this year and has been lonely ever since. I have put toys i for her and have cuddled her regularly ( still giving her space though). Unfortunately we can't get another guinea pig. Any suggestions just had floor time

If the cowering isn't normal behaviour for her then it sounds like she could be ill, as they sometimes go into a corner to hide.

Please take her to the vet.

Hi I now think honey was overwhelmed by her suroundings and now she is in her play box she is her normal happy self do you have any ideas of things that can keep her company ?

You can give her new things to play with, like cardboard boxes and rolls filled with hay.

If you keep a record of her weight, taken every couple of days you'll be able to monitor how she is. Some pigs take to being a long pig fine, whereas others really don't do well on their own.

She may like a soft toy to cuddle up to. One that is safe for babies. As herd animals they do really love company of their own kind.

Is there a reason why you cannot get another one now that she has lost her sister?

I have a nice rattly blue for my two that they play with during floortime. Something that makes a noise might be nice for her as another guinea pig would be making noise.

That is a lovely idea and I will look into it and I can't get another guinea pig because I love with my parents who won't let me have any other animals

Oh I see. I thought that.as you did have two another one wouldnt be a problem for your grieving piggie. Perhaps if they knew how vital companionship is to guinea pugs? It is even illegal in Switzerland to keep lone piggies.

I get what you mean it's not a problem for my piggie it is for my perants though I feel so bad for her
