So this morning I was feeding them and luna is making a coughing noise and her chest looks like she's coughing.
I have a very good video but can't attached it. It says this video does not have an extension?

She's making sort of crackling noises as well.
Vets will be booked when they open but would like to know your opinions please.
Lisa

Sound like it could be a URI. Good call on the vets they will listen to her chest and prescribe antibiotics.

You'd need to put the video on YouTube or photo bucket and link to it.

Sending healing vibes to Luna, you have caught whatever it is early. X

Agree it sounds like a URI. They can randomly cough when eating but with the cracklling aswell that means vet visit. Also get the vet to check the heart as random coughing is one of the many symptoms of a heart issue, but usually there are others too. If there is any fluid on her chest she will need a diuretic.

The video does work but I am unable to listen with the sound on as I am at work. Hopefully someone else will be along to listen for you.

Ahh hopefully. It's not really a cough more of a clicking. She seems fine in herself, running about etc.
Appointment booked for 3:30pm with an exotic vet.

Could be URI or allergy then. Good luck at the vets.

Thank you for replying. I took her to the vet and he said she might of had a bit of hay or something stuck in her throat as it sounded a bit wheezy when she breathes in.
So he's given me metacam to give her for three days. It's a liquid so I have to syringe feed it to her. It's also meant for dogs :s for inflammation

Metacam is fine and commonly used to treat guinea pigs though doses for piggies is very low obviously as the medicine is for dogs. There aren't any medicines specifically for guinea pigs so we have to rely on ones for more common and much better looked after animals like cats and dogs

Ahhh okay brilliant. The vet seemed like he knew what he was doing. He gave her a thorough examination.
She actually took the medicine pretty easy. She never usually sits still in my lap lol but she did start putting her paws up to her mouth to try and get it out lol. She's okay now though :D and yes it was only 0.10ml on the syringe

Hehe I've never had a problem with metacam because it tastes like honey so most piggies will quite happily lap it up! 0.1ml is low but a fairly average dosage. I have a piggy with arthritis who is currently on 0.2ml while we try and wean her down without her being in pain.

Ok so she was doing the cough thing today again. :/
It's like she's trying to say 'could' but can only say 'cou' and sort of flinches. She seems to choke easily compared to bella and she's a lot smaller too.
Do I take her to the vets again or give her more of the medicine I have left? It's odd she only does it now and then. But I'm at work all day so I can't observe her till the morning and evenings :(

I would contact the vets again and get them to have a good listen to her chest. Is she doing it intermittently?

to be honest, the only time ive noticed her doing it is in the mornings, and she makes the noise and crackling sound for 5 mins and stop, then I don't hear her do again for weeks. but she could be doing it at any point and I wouldn't be there to hear it :/
when I took her last time he just said her breathing sounded strange when she breathed out but it wasn't terrible.

It could be something to do with her environment but I agree it is best to get her checked again. Metacam is good but would not treat an infection or any fluid build up.

Do you think its too cold for them?
Also Bella started making the same noises this morning, they both done as soon as I turned the light on and sat with them.
Luna even done a proper cough this time, I can upload a video at lunch.
they do this for 5 minutes then stop? is it them 'waking up'? I'm so confused, I don't want to spent £35 each on them both for a checkup if its nothing as I'm moving house next month so its very tight money wise. obviously if they need to be seen they will.
They don't do it in the evening when I get in, I'm just confused lol

I will need to listen to the video once I am home as I have to have my pc on mute at work. I have not experienced pigs coughing from being cold though.
