I’m curious to know if anybody’s Guinea pigs have passed away lately. One of my friends rabbits did two days ago and now our beloved Guinea pig.

Could there be a dodgy batch of hay or wood shavings going around or any infectious diseases.

We just find it very odd that we have both lost a pet within two days of each other. 😭😭💔

I'm afraid without post-mortem investigation, we would only be speculating and there is no way to determine cause of death; nor link between deaths.
Sometimes bad things tend to happen all at once.

If you are worried and have other piggies; make sure that rabbits don't come into contact with piggies as they carry pathogens that can be very harmful to guinea pigs.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. Thinking of you all during this difficult time 🌈

Thank you for your message. My friends lives a few miles away.

I honestly didn’t think I’d get so upset at losing a Guinea pig, but then they are my babies. I’m worried about our other Guinea pig being lonely too xx

We all on here understand how you feel when it comes to our piggies (and other pets), and deeply sympathise. Give yourself time to grieve. The best option for your remaining pig will be bonding at a reputable rescue to find them a new friend.
The support of this forum is fantastic, and you may want to leave a tribute to your little one on the Rainbow bridge section.

Thank you again for you kind words. My friend actually rehomes Guinea pigs, so I’m definitely going to speak with her x

I am very sorry that you have lost your beloved piggy and your friend her rabbit :( As mentioned, only a post mortem will tell you how your piggy died but I am sure your friend losing her rabbit and you your piggy so close together is just a coincidence.

Everyone on here understands what you are going through and we can all sympathise. Please feel free to post a tribute in our rainbow bridge section if you would like too. Be kind to yourself as you grieve x

So sorry for your loss.
It’s a blow when we lose our beloved piggies.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve

I’m so sorry you have lost your beloved piggy.

I am really sorry for your loss

I am very sorry for your loss. Sadly over the years many of us have lost piggies suddenly and unexpectedly.
