Hey guys. Just wanted your advice. Do you think my piggies are over weight? What should they be? 4 of mine are over 1kg...they are just domestic guineas, no particular breed. They eat a lot...obviously hehe. Has anybody ever out theirs on a diet?
Thanks!

Your guinea pigs are healthy weights. Two of mine are 1.2 kilos. They are all different shapes and sizes so do not worry.

I'll stop worrying :D haha lots more bigger than mine! 1.8 amazing!!

I think as long as you are feeding the recommended diet of limited nuggets, unlimited hay and daily veg then they won't get fat so long as they are active.

I thought my piggy was overweight as he was quite large and was described as a minivan most of the time. So I decided to cut down his amount of food slightly, giving him 40g a day of nuggets instead of a full bowl and making him have a lot more floor time than he did before. It seems to have worked as I can defiantly see that my pig has lost weight around his face and neck, and also my pig seems to be a lot more active and happier too!

Mine are all between 1.1 & 1.4 Kilos.

My NB weighed in at 1.7 once. Shocked me I must say so I Just cut back on the pellets, fed more hay and cut out baby sweet corn which I think was the main culprit. He's still chunky but the vet is happy with him at 1.5.

I was told when I got my boys that they'd been put on a diet as they were overweight when they arrived at the rescue. However they were both around the 800-900g mark (can't remember exactly) Since then I've been feeding them on the recommended diet given on the forum (admittedly I am very generous with veggies!) and they're at a stable 1.04kg & 1.06kg now and by my understanding are just about to hit their 2nd birthday.

I think you can tell by their general stature, my boys would look seriously overweight if they hit the 1.2kg mark or above because they are obviously just small stature and not as long as many other piggies I've seen.
