Guinea Pig Doesn’t Let Me Touch Him

ive had my guinea pigs for 6 months now and one of them won’t let me touch him, he runs off as soon as I go to touch him, he will come sit on me for treats and be near me, and take food from me. He just hates me touching him.. any advice? Thanks. X

Not ever guinea pig likes being petted.
If he sits on you, takes treats from you and is happy to be near you then he obviously feels comfortable and safe with you.
Just accept him for who he is.

Hi! By far not all guinea pigs enjoy handling. It always depends on how strong the prey animal instincts are. It can sometimes take months or even years to relax a very skittish piggy.

You can try and use some piggy whispering tricks to communicate with your boy in ways that he instinctively understands.

You can also consider whether you want to get him a same sex companion in the long term. Guinea pigs are group animals that depend on having interaction with their own kind 24/7; you cannot replace that, especially if you have got school and work commitments and a social life. Ideally you date him at a good rescue that offers this service so you come home with a new friend only if they like each other so there is no risk for you of ending up with two boars that won' get on.
