Hi
My guinea pig does this one shake thing which is hard to describe. It's sort of like what a dog does when they're wet to get the water off their fur and it's like a quiver but just once it's not a continious shake. She doesn't do it all the time but is this something to worry about? She's not losing hair or anything like that and she's eating and drinking plenty.
Thank you!

Hi and welcome

It is not normally an issue of she wants to get rid of hay dust in her fur etc. in the context of giving herself a piggy wash. My piggies do it too. A shake in the context of interaction with other piggies or humans (after a cuddle) has usually the meaning of "well rid of".

When you should see a vet is when your piggy is increasingly/constantly shaking its head - this generally means that there is an issue with the ear, most likely an ear infection, which needs to be seen by a vet promptly. Ear infections can potentially kill if they go into the brain or cause a permanent head tilt if they are left untreated or undertreated, and they can get worse quite quickly. Only your vet can make a proper diagnosis. NEVER pour anything down a piggy's ear.
