Hi I'm after some advice for my boy Bilbo.
*just to let everyone know, we've got an appointment at the vets at 10.45*

So over the past 2 days I've noticed he has started to eat very slowly, to the point where his brother will eat nearly all of their veg and he will still be on the same piece he first started eating. When in the run he would just sit there. He improved slightly yesterday out is his run and didnt have any problems. But when I fed them this morning his mouth was frothy/foaming and his neck/chest was wet. I've wiped him over and as I said made an appointment to get him seen but wanted to ask if anyone had experienced anything similar?

Thanks
Chloe and Bilbo

My first guinea pig Vinny had a foamy discharge (whether it's the same I don't know). She was very lethargic, not eating and moved very rarely. Her head was also tilted to the side slightly.

To this day I don't know what it was and the vet I saw couldn't tell me either.

Good luck at the vets. Crossed my fingers for you!

Sounds like a dental issue 🙁 hopefully the vet can sort it x do his front teeth look okay?

Thank you all for your replies. We're home now. The vet had a good feel of all of his teeth and said the front bottom teeth and the ones at the back were a little long so he filed/trimmed them down for us (dont know if it's just me being hopeful but he seemed to pick up slightly after that). He also said when he was sorting the back teeth out there was a bit of yellow discharge/pus so hes given us some antibiotics and Metacam for any pain.

He said to keep an eye on him and if he still seems to be in discomfort to take him back and they would sedate him and have a proper look, but hes almost positive it's like an ulcer/small abscess in his mouth. I was very pleased with the care we were given and really seemed to know what he was doing! :)
