Guinea Pig eating paper?

This morning I went to feed the guinea pigs. Instead of eating the carrot like his brother, Frodo was eating newspaper? I line the cage with newspaper and then cover with woodshavings so cleaning is easier, but today some newspaper was sticking up and out of the woodshavings. Then I saw Frodo pulling at the newspaper and ripping it, before pulling it up in his mouth. Should I be concerned?

Its perfectly normal for piggies to nibble on paper if they get the chance

Yes, it's normal. It's why I would sometimes turn in homework with some nibbles taken out.

Mine eat packing paper when I put it in the outdoor run for them to hide under!

As my vet once said it’s safe for Guinea pigs to eat newspaper as long as they don’t read it first

I line my hay trays with newspaper, then shavings, then hay. In one cage the newspaper is never touched. In the other, the edges are like a doiley, as 2 of the piggies seem to love ripping it and nibbling it.
