Hi
When I bought my male Guinea pig I noticed a rash sort of thing on this toes. It isn't affecting his walking and does not seem to be causing him pain but I just wonder if it will get worse. The rash/ecema has seemed to cause his skin on his toes to be pushed back, and now he seems to have no cuticles. I'm not sure else how to explain it. He basically all his nail up to his food is revealed. I have tried using coconut oil, which seems to cure all dry skin, but it hasn't worked this time. Does anybody have any tips to help the dry skin?

Thank you

Could we have a photo?

It would be worth a vet visit just to make sure it's not anything like fungal or urine scald, which may need prescription meds.

I would wonder if dry flaky skin was, in fact, a fungal infection that could continue to spread. It's worth a vet check for a diagnosis. Ringworn/fungal skin often looks like dry, flaky areas with no hair. Oh, and wash your hands well, some fungi (ringworm) are contagious to humans and other animals as well.

I was wondering fungal too, it's worth checking out at the vet. Beware that some fungal infections can spread to other pigs and to people, and it's best caught as soon as possible.
