Guinea pig feature week: Day 2
Thor
Thor has been with us nearly 3 years now. He arrived with his brother Loki, who sadly left us for the Rainbow Bridge last year.
When younger, Thor was very much the rebel of our family; causing much more mischief than his brother Loki. As he’s aged, Thor has very much mellowed and is the most laid back piggy of the group. He now loves a snuggle with his hoomans more than ever (don’t tell him we said that - he still has an ego to maintain)!
After losing Loki, Thor took in a very poorly Odin and they became good buddies (original pairing Odin and Stark lost their bond when Odin was so weak). Thor played a crucial role in helping to nurse Odin, and provided that essential piggy company that Odin needed to help him thrive again. They had a very happy few months together, and Thor was very tolerant when Odin’s delayed teenage hormones finally kicked in! Even in his final moments, Odin wanted to be snuggled up with his buddy Thor. So thank you Thor, for helping to make Odin’s final months such happy ones. Piggies don’t measure their lives by years, they very much measure it with happiness; and Odin had lots and lots of happiness.
Being one of our long-haired piggies, Thor’s locks do require regular maintenance and trimming, though he is very good at keeping himself a gleaming white colour. We very very rarely bath our guinea pigs (unless it’s needed for medical reasons) but Thor does enjoy the occasional warm soak of the hair around his bottom, ready for trimming up. He now enjoys a gentle brush much more than he used to.
So we would like to dedicate today to our lovely, cuddly, ‘teddy-bear’ of a piggy, Thor. His favourite food is coriander or cucumber and his favourite activity is most definitely pop-corning and showing off his hair
