I have just read the most disturbing post on a local ‘Sharing the Kindness’ Facebook page. Basically, a lady is looking for an indoor cage due to a horrific incident.

Some sick individual got into her back garden and set off a rocket in her guinea pigs’ hutch. The pigs are alive but covered in black and are shaken. She doesn’t say if they’ve been burnt.

I believe someone is donating a cage and I’ve chatted to her about the importance of them being inside. I don’t know the lady but I’ve offered to drive her to one of the cavy savvy vets I know but I think she is going to take them locally.

I’ve asked her to check them thoroughly for burns and breathing issues in the meantime and to ensure they’re eating but I’ve stressed the importance of them being vet checked ASAP.

I’m not sure what more I can do apart from trying to be encouraging with future support if the poor babies pull through.

This has really affected me and I can’t stop thinking about it. 😢😢

That's so sad I hope it pulled through 😢😢😥 😢

That is horrifying, poor piggies and poor owner. Really hope they’ll all be ok.
Not surprised it’s upset you. Some people really are disgusting :cen:

I would definitely get them checked over at a vets, delayed shock is most likely to be the biggest risk, tell her to keep them in a quiet, dark/dimly lit place & make sure they're kept hydrated, wash any food & leave it a bit wet.
Hopefully they won't ingest any of the soot on their coats - maybe try using a soft brush to groom them & get rid of some soot if they're happy to be handled - but don't stress them out if they're not used to much interaction.

Probably best not to put them back in the hutch concerned as that may be stressful for them, with the surroundings & smell of the soot reminding them of their horrific fright.

Poor little potatoes - the society we live in today is just so sick, even if the sick, vile, weirdo is caught, its pretty much guaranteed nothing will happen to them :cen::rant::no:.

Its a family forum so I can't put what I'd wish on them as punishment, but hopefully karma will kick in- pain, terror & illness being rife in their own life until their dying day.

:hug:Big hug for you & the lady concerned, healing vibes&loving tickles for the Guineas. You must be all incredibly traumatised and distressed. Thank you for helping them. xx

I'm struggling to get my head around this. Poor helpless piggies.
this is not a threat but I'd love to talk to the person or persons who did this . . .
I'm now thinking as they have done this they now know where the piggies are. I'm Sorry but this lady has to move her piggies indoors.
What you have done and are Is great supporting her and you must be a very caring person to follow this up. My hat off to you @alexr
Pls keep us posted. . Well done and thank you. x

Scumbags is too polite for the ******** who did such a heartbraking, cruel thing. I wish I could get hold of them! All I can say is that I completely agree with the sentiments GPTV has posted. My heart goes out to those poor piggies and the lady . Hope they pull through xx

How can anybody think that was the correct thing to do?!? How would they like it if they were locked in a small room with a lit firework and nowhere to get away from it? The person that did this horrific act needs to be locked up (preferably with a lit firework in the room every day they are put away!)

Some people are just stick, why on earth would anyone think to do that or even think it's 'fun'. Scumbags!
Imagine catching them doing it, you would just go oshych

A good update for you all. The five piggies are all doing well which is a huge relief. They’re currently in a huge dog crate and I’ve seen a video of them happily pottering about. I’ve shown her some pictures of C&C set ups although this may not be ideal due to having a dog.

The police have been informed and they’re also checking any CCTV on the street. I know what I’d like to do to the people responsible. 🤬 On a positive note, several local people have decided to bring their outdoor piggies and rabbits indoors for winter.

I hope the piggies continue to recover from the ordeal. Luckily, it was a two-tiered hutch so they’d dashed upstairs.

Well done for helping and very glad they're OK (I hope they've seen a vet to make sure!)
I hope they catch who did it and throw away the key! 😭
Heartbreaking and sickening to say the least, why just why would anyone do such a thing! 😤🤯
I'm very glad my piggies have always lived indoors, I don't think I'd sleep at night if they were outside

I love the interaction of having piggies indoors. There’s always some antics to observe plus I like how vocal they are when they want attention! I’m easily distracted by entering the pig room and before I know it, I’ve spent half an hour stroking and talking to piggies and have forgotten what I was supposed to be doing. 🤣

I'm exactly the same pop up for some washing and the next I know it's an hour later and all I've done is talked to piggies 🙈🙈😂😂

Thanks for the update.
So glad the piggies are doing ok.
Hope the police can catch those who did it
Hopefully, alot of the time they can catch who did it by footprints of certain make trainers plus size in the mud, if there was any. Little turds. Then again kids all where similar stuff

I've just seen it on my news feed on my mobile.
I was going to post it & seen you beat me to it :tu:
Hopefully something will be found on CCTV in the area if awareness has been raised by the papers, be good for the police to catch & punish the sick weirdo that did it!

I agree with Sophie, I shouldn’t have read this :( some people really are sick. I’m glad the piggies are ok, poor little things
