DEFINATELY ! - I said from the beginning that I would get him I was waiting for a reply but am new to Ebay I am right next door to Addlestone!!!

Has the lady emailed you back? As I mentioned yesterday I'm only online 9-5.30 and would like to get him ASAP to settle him in preferably during the wheek - not wheekend.

I dont require the outdoor cage as I keep all mine indoors with me and I have spare cages I.m just anxious to get him settled and sorted!

4.00pm - Has anyone heard anymore?

I know I know I'm getting boring now but my worry is if I go off line tomorrow at 5.30 she'll be on line at 5.31! Then I won't be able to do anything until Monday Morning again! Obviusly she's looking for a good home for Scooby and me, pooks & bubu are just waiting for him to join us!

I dont know what to suggest .....

Can you give her another email address of someone who will be online? Or give her your phone number?

Can one of us act as go between?

I don't another email address or know anyone with one! I spend 5 days a week on a computer and telephone so when I go home I dont want either in my house! I have a mobile but everybody on it has a different tune so I know who's calling! I like home time to be mine and piggy time besides they dont like ringing phones..

Thank you - but we need to get this sorted ideally before weekend or have a date for next week Squeaky pigs has her details to contact

You do!! I'm climbing desks and walls here! I dont do waiting where piigies are concerned!!

The lady selling the piggy has contacted Cavykind. Perhaps Cavykind could pass your details on and say she knows you from the forum. Perhaps you could PM herwith your details and telephone numbers ?

Have PM'd cavykind

Have your pm's but I'll need to be able to provide Scooby's mum with some way of contacting you. If you have no email address and you don't want to give her your mobile number, how is she supposed to get in touch with you?
I'm going offline soon as I have just lost one of my little oldies and want a bit time to myself, so please let me know how you want to be contacted.

Thank's
Barbara

I do have an email address 9-5 which I have already sent her a msg with on ebay yesterday.

I have pm'd my mobile no to you I simply forgot.

Sorry to hear about poor little Solo I feel for poor little Jonty too.

I definately want this piggie or else I wouldnt have spent the whole afternoon watching forum and waiting!

Take Care

Have emailed this lady, just sent it and forwarded your mobile number. I have explained that you are a member of one of the guinea pig boards I visit. I also explained that I do not know you personally and that she should have a good chat with you and that if she decides to place Scooby in your care, to bring him along to your home to see where he is going to be living. And I'll be honest....said if she isn't happy not to leave him.

This is advice I'd give anyone re-homing themselves. So please, don't take it personally, because it isn't meant that way.
I'm just being upfront :)

I've advised that if things don't go as planned, to take a look at the rescue details on guinea re- home. Or to get back in touch with me.

Sincerely, I hope all goes well!

Barbara

I totally understand that she is concerned where he will be living as I would be if I had to do the same ( highly unlikely!)

I'll be honest I don't want anyone coming into my house to "scutinise" me, I don't keep my piggies outdoors they live with me in my studio flat and play out together, each one has his own cage and goes home by himself at home time. We have parsley time at 8.00pm sharp which they know because they are usually waiting on thier sofa for me!

Call me eccentric and "strange" because I probably am! My piggies are my beloved pets and after all life has thrown at me we prefer to live alone, quietly, privately. I suffer from depression too and piggies are my salvation. I delibretly live somewhere tucked away in Esher so people have a hard time finding me anyway.

So as I say I totally understand her concerns for his future home but I couldnt stand someone coming to "look me over" I'd probably have a panic attack!

I have kept Guinea pigs, rabbits and birds for 30 years now although now I just have a bird and piggies, I prefer to live as quietly as possible and find life outside home quite stressful.

Just thought I'd put you in the picture.............eccentric I may be but I am 100% committed to animals.

I was just trying to help someone out as I was the closest, unfortunately no-one on here knows me nor can they vouch for me so there we are!

Well it's up to this lady what she decides to do, I can only give a little guidance to her about re homing :)
As someone involved in guinea rescue, I'm sure you understand that it would be very irresponsible of me to encourage her to hand the guinea pig over to a stranger at her front door :-\

I understand that you value your privacy, we all do, but most rescues, large and small would want to do a homecheck, whatever animal you they were adopting out.
They just want to see where the guinea pig will be living, have a face to face chat and satisfy themselves that it is a genuine pet home being offered.

Nobody would "scrutinise" you - or look around your home, just the piggy living areas :)

I'll be honest, people refusing a homecheck, for whatever reason, would not get a guinea pig from me. No matter how good a home they promised. The guineas welfare, as I hope you understand is my first priority :)

Let us know what happens and if Scooby's mum gets in touch.

Barbara

Edited to add: This the information about re-homing guineas taken from my site CavyKind re-homing page

Had an email from Scooby's mum and she is going to ring you piglover :)

Barbara

I dont think you should be worried about her coming to your home, but I can understand who you'd be a bit put out, as you were offering an unwanted pig a home and the fact she was advertsing him on ebay of all places suggests she's not necessarily that bothered where he goes.

Totally see why you have given her that information tho Cavykind, as a rescue I dont think it would be right to do anything else.

Hope you get him piglover! Well done for offering him a home.

Thanks for that Maxthepig! Also the fact that I live alone in the woods(!) You just don't know who is coming to your house do you? So many wierdos about these days and dark evenings too! Just because they own a piggy doesn't make them ok does it? I have to look out for myself, I know piggy welfare is important but I think my welfare is quite important too! We can't just get carried away with the sentiment of piggy rescue I have to protect myself and my other piggies!

Scoobysmum thought advertising for a home on ebay was simply just another way of trying to find a home. She has expressed to me that she really does want to find him a good one and I can only take her at her word. She said in her email that she thought that by re-homing him herself it would save puttting extra stress on already busy rescues.
I'm just sorry that I am not near enough to take this guinea pig and re-home him myself.

Barbara

Shame you're not nearer I agree could saved me all this stress! Or are you suggesting your home would be better than mine, simply because I'm dubious about a stranger coming to my home?

You should try taking me at my word too! After all we're all after the same thing - happy piggies. Try and understand what I said in my note to maxthepig about where I live etc etc

There's is no one getting carried away with sentiment, there is little room for it it in animal welfare :-\

If you are worried about your safety, ask for a landline number to call her back on and arrange to have someone with you if the lady does ask to visit. I'm sorry but I think this is getting a little silly. Personally I wish I'd never got involved.

Piglover you asked for the owners email address, I'm sorry but I don't want to hand without her consent, but I will email her and ask for permission to give it to you.
I'm sorry piglover but how can I take you at your word when I don't know you...

Barbara

You dont know her either. I wish I never asked you to get involved! I was merely trying to help out Scooby by doing what I could in my situation however "silly" that is. I explained where I live, how I live, that I suffer from depression and am quite nervous outside my house and with people - cant help that but may of helped Scooby!

End of subject its between me and her now

Thank you for your involvement.

Sorry Barbara, I meant put out because it seemed a rather desperate situation, and I'm sure piglover wasnt expecting the lady to come to her home, but I dont think this is anything to fear. Many people seem all too willing to just give their animals away to the first person who shows some interest but it sounds as though she is a caring owner.

I'll stay out of it now :)

I see where you are coming from, thanks for explaining :)
I think many owners really are at a loss on the best way to find a home for their guinea pigs and the majority don't know that guinea rescues exist.
I once saw a boar for sale on ebay, it was pretty local so I sent them my tel number, link to my site and asked them to contact me. The guy did immediately and we were able to take in Charlie. Apparently a lot of people had contacted him via ebay saying what a horrible owner he was etc etc, but no one had offered to help or pointed him in the direction of a rescue ::)

Charlie the guinea was actually in fantastic shape and a friendly, loving boy.

Oh and back on topic....I'm staying out of it too.
Scooby's mum also has a list of local rescues to contact if things don't work out. I feel I can't do more than I have done, given where I live.

Barbara

Unsurprisingly Scooby's mum never contacted me..............

I hope Scooby finds his new forever home from whichever rescue he has ended up in.

I have also taken in 2 baby boys this weekend from a friend of which I was holding off for Scooby as she didn't have room for the boys only girls so now we are all happy!

Its such a shame you didn't get Scooby. You must be really disappointed. But on the bright side, you have been able to give a loving forever home to 2 other piggies
