Not been on the forum a while for various reasons, so hello again! Myself and the guinea pigs have just got back from a week's holiday at Lake Windermere today. We stayed at Fallbarrow Holiday Park which is in Bowness and I can recommend it for anyone who wants to take their piggies on holiday (it's not bad for humans too)! There are a mix of cabins and caravans - we stopped in an 'Edenhall' caravan (which had enough floorspace in the lounge area for Primrose and Stanley's holiday pen). I booked it through a holiday website but rang the park directly to ask if I would be allowed to take my guinea pigs - I explained to the lady on the phone that they would be in their pen at all times and she said that it would be fine (you just need to make sure you book a pet-friendly accommodation and pay a supplement for 1 dog). (When I got there the caravan they allocated me actually had a sticker saying it wasn't pet-friendly, but nobody asked and I had my booking paperwork to show I'd booked pets if there had been any trouble, which there wasn't.) When I went out I left the kitchen window slightly open (unfortunately I couldn't leave any of the lounge windows open) and closed the curtains; a couple of times it felt a little bit stuffy when I got back but nothing too bad (and they had water etc). The weather has been lovely this last week (between 18 and 23 degrees and no rain) - if it had been any warmer I would've worried about leaving the guinea pigs in the caravan unattended but as it was it was okay. So if anyone is wanting somewhere to go on holiday with their guinea pigs I can give Fallbarrow the thumbs up - it's in a great location and is right at the side of the lake.

I think we have stayed there about 10 years ago, we stayed in a 2 bedroomed log cabin. We took our boat, it was fab. Good to hear they take piggies. We have just booked a 4 night stay in a cottage in Devon and they are fine with us bringing our piggies Bill and Ted x

Enjoy your stay in Devon! I may just have struck lucky with a sympathetic employee when I rang up to enquire, as generally (like most places) people only tend to bring dogs - though I did overhear (me, nosy? never!) a lady in the restaurant talking with her husband(?) about potentially bringing their cat with them on another visit!

Hello and welcome back :) I’m glad you could take your piggies away with you
Hello and thanks! I had a nice time in the Lake District and I think the guinea pigs enjoyed their holiday too! (Or at least they had a typical holiday - happy and excited one minute, having a bit of a tiff the next!)

It’s good to hear that more people are able to take their piggies (and other pets) on holiday with them. I was surprised to get such a welcoming response that piggies are adorable! So nice!
At the end of the day piggies don’t bark and jump on the furniture like doggies and provided they are well supervised cause not damage whatsoever x Glad you had a good time!

No thanks, my cat Daisy would scratch the hell out of the place and disappear off somewhere!
Glad you and the piggies had a nice hol :)

Thanks! Yeah, I couldn't quite see the cat idea working, unless it's purely an 'indoor cat' that's very well-trained to only use it's scratching posts...
