Guinea Pig Got To Underlayer

I'm ready to burst into tears. After the puppy pad problem, I took out newspapers, puppy pads and sealed so they couldn't get to it. But one of them got to the lino, I think it's called. I'm thinking its Peppa, her stomach, especially under her stomach, seems hard, I tried ringing my vets but they're sayi they're closed, despite that they close at 6pm. I'll post a pic of how much was eaten but I feel so irresponsible. What to do? Thanks.
 
It's not your fault silly, it's just some piggys are inquisitive. I used to be on edge as mine used to go under the fleece. We have put bulldog clips or similar, & clipped the fleece to the correx, that may stop them. You just got to think like a piggie. Lol
 
Thanks, I must learn to be more careful. I think it's Peppa as she tried having a go at it again. How do you know if it's actually a hard stomach? Sounds silly, bit o ask as I check and can't really tell if it's just fat or not.

Piggies will chew anything they can get their gnashers into. My lino is nibbled, too!

Please don't panic; it is not likely to cause blockages. As long as your piggy is still eating happily and not is not looking off, then you need not worry, just keep an eye on it.
 
Thanks. My main worry is that she hadn't pood since I've had separated her (20 - 30 mins I think?)

By the way, what happens to what they eat? Since its artificial I don't see it breaking up in the system
 
A watched piggie doesn't poo, turn away and they do about 10! Go and do something else for a while.
The tiny Lino pieces will just go through the digestive system and be part of a poo a few hours later;).
 
I went away for a few minutes, came back find four then put her in the cage and she produced more :) seems ok but ill keep an eye on her in a bit
 
Mine have eaten all sorts of forbidden substances - Lino, puppy pads, plastic pads, curtains, the dustpan and the nylon bristles on the brush - you name it they've eaten it. All here to tell the tale. Just don't over think it. Sure all will be fine.
 
She'll be fine. I had one who preferred plastic to anything! She ate correx, freezer bags, hideys the lot and never had any ill effects other than me regularly swearing at her! I had to move everything from reach outside of the c&c and she once dragged (through the bars) an entire bag of readi grass to the side of the cage, ate the plastic side and left the rest of the herd to eat the grass! She was quite something! :mal: Although I miss her terribly...RIP cheeky little Bonnie xx
