so today I was giving two of my guinea pigs there medicine as they are both being treated for two different illnesses one luckily has been cleared up and I'm going back to the vets soon for a check up . Anyway when I finished giving them there mess I noticed I had this brown tinny substance on my T shirt which was there before ( I should probably mention it does smell like guinea pigs) I did pick both of them up but is it okay for them to have a little runny stomach? I've checked everywhere and there is no other places it's been found apart from my shirt

What illnesses are they being treated for and what medicines have they been given? Do you know who has runny poops or do both of them?

My Daisy had diarrhoea earlier this year. After we got her a new cage mate I think she was eating 1.5 portions of veg and then had an hour gorging on grass and it just set her off. I took her off veg and just took her out the hutch to cuddle at veg times to let the others eat. I had zantac from another recently ill piggy but my vet recommended to just leave her be and let it clear (that was while assessing that she was otherwise bright and healthy and her eyes looked bright which meant she was dehydrated)

Keep an eye on your piggies and see a vet promptly if the fluid diarrhea continues. Take your piggies off any fresh food until things have settled again and start weighing them daily so you can monitor their food intake and if necessary step in with syringe feed. I would also recommend to add dioralyte (UK) / pedialyte (US) to any water you syringe in order ot prevent dehydration if that patch is not a one off.

Dito to Wiebke ! Also what meds is your pig on ?

Could it have dribbled out of their mouth while you were syringing meds? I have stains like this all over my trousers from syringing Daisy her meds twice a day. Some of her medicine mixes with whatever was in her mouth at the time and then dribbles back out onto my lap. Just a thought. Though if you are worried I would suggest seeking a vets advice.

Thats a good point actually, now I look again it could be syringe feed. I had Daisy out on the vets table for less than 10 mins and she left smears all over the place so it was unmistakable that she had diarrhoea. Have you checked their bums and the cage to see if there is more like this?

They are on metacan and baytril and I picked them both up and only realised until I finished so no I didn't see what one it was

No I actually put both meds on the shirt to see because I did think that at first but there is a yellowish stain on the left that is the meta can and the baytril is clear so no it's not either

Metacan still and baytril but of a stronger dosage and I mentioned the colloidal silver but they didn't recommend it for the type of illness they had

One is being treated for a respiratory infection which has thankfully cleared and another is being treated for a infection in the foot originally diagnosed as bumble foot to one vet however a specialist thinks it could be a tumour because of the liquid coming out of the foot
