Tomorrow we are off on our holidays to the Isle of Wight for a fortnight :) So today Jack and Charlie have packed their little guinea pigs suitcases for a fortnight with our neighbours!

Usually when we go for a few days, our neighbour pops round and feeds them, but as she will need to clean them out she suggested they move round to her house this time. So my OH and I have carried their big two storey hutch round to the neighbours' garden, plus their run, sawdust, hay, food and a bag of left over veg! They have more luggage than us :))

I'll miss the little beasts, but they'll be fine. My neighbour has a piggie of her own, so she knows what she's doing with them, and as they will be in their own hutch, I guess they won't really notice the difference.

As she has a boar as well, she is keeping her boy inside (he is an indoor piggie) and our two in the garden. I am just slightly concerned that if my boys smell another boy, for instance when they are all out in their runs, could this lead to my boys falling out with each other? They are brothers and have been bonded from birth, with no problems at all. But they won't all be in the same run (obviously) so I guess it will be fine.

I'm sure they would be fine - we had a father and son bonded pair and they were fine until we made the mistake of putting a third single boy in the cage right next to them - he used to wind them up! They fell out after that - however I honestly believe had we put them further away from the single boar they likely would have been OK.

I've got a second bonded pair now and they have been inside with my friend's bonded pair (about 8 ft away) when she looked after them when we were on holiday and both pair of pigs are still intact :)

I think I would be a little concerned about a bonded pair of boys around females, especially in close proximity, but lots of people seem to have no problems at all with this so it likely depends on the pigs.

Try not to worry and have a great time!

Bless them they will be fine I'm sure.

My friends always bring their piggies to me i have two lots of boars with me at the moment. Jeff and Jack are inside as they are in door piggies and Ginger and Snowie are outdoor they use one of my spare hutches when they come to stay and it never seems to bother them as long as they have a nice house plenty of food and drink I'm sure they dont notice their owners have gone. Jeff and Jack come that often as theri Mum goes on weekends away alot I'm sure they just know they are on hols too.

Your right though they dont travel light. Def would have to pay excess bagage allowance if they had to go aboad!

Thanks for that!

I'm sure they will be fine too. Mine have been living outside anyway, so it works out fine with them staying in the garden.

My daughter wanted to take them to the isle of wight, but we're struggling to get everything in the car already, let alone taking the piggies and all their baggage! I think they will be much happier staying here than having a long car and ferry journey.

My Jimmy and Joe came from Sokels who had said that they got on ok even near girls so my two have always been kept near girls and had no problems what so ever, I'm pretty sure its something to do with Joe not being bothered about girls at all he ignores them its Jimmy jack the lad that does all the flirting with them so they get on fine.

I keep my boar guests away from my girls just incase its upsets them.
