We had to move the piggies outbid their hutch in the garden because of the gale force winds . I moved their run in to the garage where they are "camped out " like refugees until the weather warning passes . Am I being totally paranoid or could a hutch blow over in high winds ? Thanks :0)

I just read on here a little while a go that someone once had a hutch blow over and the piggies were traumatised, it was on another thread. It's probably best anyway as they'd probably be scared of the noise xox

your not paranoid at all your better safe than sorry as my mum always said ((hugs)) try not to worry about it i bet the piggies are enjoying a new view-c

Hutches on legs or two storey ones can blow over in strong winds anyway

Rose & Martha used their garage hutch today, just in case. They were quite happy in there for the day so long as the food supply was still plentiful :))

Thanks everyone ! My refugees are safe and well and I could sleep knowing they were safe ! Wind has gone so they can return "home" today !

i would have done the same, thankfully mine are against a 6ft tall very strong fence so it was just the noise that was scaring my 2 :)

I think you have done the right thing. All of mine used to come in when the weather was horrendous and also on bonfire week .

Yep, definitely the right thing to do :)

I've known hutches to blow over in high winds and the doors have come open and the piggies escaped :( Much better to have then tucked up safely.

You've definately done the right thing there!

I was up most of last night peeking out the window every 10 mins to make sure my shed was still standing! I'm considering taking the boys out the shed and bringing them indoors for a few days - silly wind :(

my guinea pigs probably weight the hutch down enough, they're like chunky doorstops! i've fortunately got the hutch against the edge of the house and against a fence, but I've got the hutch hugger cover down and two big plastic drums against the front just in case. they're conked out at the minute non the wiser of the weather. lazy guineas! :)) x
