hi, i am thinking about buying this hutch,
guineapighutch.jpg

how any guinea pigs do you think you could put in it, it is 41inch width, 22 inch depth, 45.7 height.

4' x 2' is the size for 2 piggies, this is a bit smaller than that but on two levels... not all piggies will use ramps and you also lose quite a bit of floor space where the ramp is (on both levels) so I'm not sure how many would be comfortable in it really, depends whether they're ok with ramps or not as the downstairs is not enclosed.

I'd be tempted to get a larger hutch say 5' x 2' but on one level, for 3 piggies.

do you have a hutch if so what do you do with them in the winter do you take them in the shed or will they be ok out side with a cover over?

Hello,

I have exact same hutch for my 2 little piggies, Gus and Paddy, and they are really happy in it. As the other message said, it does depend on whether they will use the ramp. My 2 spend most of the day running up and down it, they love it! It's also nice as they can have their own space if they want it. Gus, the older piggy often goes downstairs for a bit of peace and Paddy likes to stay upstairs by the food bowl! The only problem was finding a water/wind proof cover to fit, I ended up getting the cover for Daisy Cottage Model (from Pets at home) which is a bit big but I have managed to clip it to sides and make it fit! Perfect size for 2 piggies but I wouldn't have anymore than that.

Hope this helps. x

I have some indoors and some out, but in winter the outdoor piggies are in in the shed, stops me worrying about them so much knowing they've got extra protection. Some people do keep them outside all year long, but use hutch-huggers to protect from wind and rain

do you keep them outdoors in the winter?

Hi,

This is my first year with them but I'm planning to put the hutch in the shed during the winter. The cover does say it enables hutches to be kept out all year round but I have quite a windy garden so think they would be happier in the shed! x

hi, does anyone think this cage would be better,
hutch2.jpg

would this cage be suitable for 3 guinea pigs that would be kept in outside all year round, it is approx. 53"x 20.5"x 24.5, i can't seem to find a 5ft

well if it was me i prefer the first one my partner built mine on two floors at first piggies were abit hesitant on ramp to start with . now they are mad heads up and down .
