I've spent ages looking for ideas online of cheap toys for guinea-pigs, things I can make for them etc. and I decided to make a website where I would put all of the ones I found. I know a few, but does anyone have any cheap ways of entertaining a guinea-pig or cheap places to get things etc. or things to make for them? I was hoping this website would help other people who are looking for things they can easily make for their guinea-pig or cheap places to buy things for them.

I think maybe piggies are different than let's say, ferrets, who love to play with stuff, take and hide things, toss stuff around. My pigs seem to not spend so much time with toy stuff but lots of time with each other, popcorning after running up a ramp or across the cage. And of course eating is a major pastime for them. You can tell that the extra money you spend on good timothy hay is money well spent when they dive into a new handful of hay, and the wheeking as they hear you prepare them a salad tells you that you've done something special for them.
My piggies love cozies, so you could post some of where to get those or how to make them.
Great idea you have to get a place set aside for reasonable stuff for them!

Thank you for all these I'll add them to the site. I'm going to have one page on general guinea-pig care and a link to this forum as well just in case there are any new guinea-pig owners that look at my site.

Does anyone have a photo of either a cozie, a cuddle cup or a fabric tunnel that they made themselves that I could use on the website? I was going to put instructions on how to make them and wanted a photo of one someone made themselves to add to it. I tried making one but I'm rubbish at sewing :))

Are these any good to you? They're all hand sewn, so a bit wonky. :(|)

I use toilet roll tubes stuffed with hay too. I have some little hidey houses made out of flower pots with holes cut in them and upside down. I also got some recycled paper flower pots in Lidl and made then into houses and they can eat them too, though they haven't so far! And some cardboard tunnels that I cut from tubes used to hold posters. I used to have a plastic drainpipe for them, which they loved, and it disappeared somewhere some time when I moved the run. They have a few cat toys (plastic balls and things with bells in them) that I got in the 2euro shop (pound shop, lol) and those are fine if they don't chew them, which mine don't. I keep changing their environment round a bit, cos when I put new things in they popcorn and squeak and are really excited, but then get bored of them!

Apparently they love cardboard boxes stuffed with shredded paper or hay, with a few holes cut in them. I've never tried this cos mine are outside and it'd get damp, but they're meant to love it.

The main thing to keep mind amused is food though! I gotta go do some weeding soon and give them some dandelions and grass and chickweed :)

Thank you for these photos, I've made an online magazine thing with how to make fleece accessories on the website and these photos are perfect! :D

And thank you CiaraPatricia, I'll add your ideas too. I've been working on the website for a couple of hours and it's nearly finished now :)

They're not wonky they're FAB! Wish I could do that - I can't even sew a button on without making a mess of things lol! x

I had just one thing to add to the website and I must have pressed the wrong button and deleted it :( I've started again but it might take a bit longer now

Gosh Donna have you thought of making any of those to order? If so I would buy some for my soon to arrive piggies! Seriously, I am interested!
