Anyone know how I can insure my two piggies? Exotic direct seem to be the only insurer but they refuse to insure my two pigs because one had a bladder stone removed recently. I need insurance for them! I understand that the insurance won't cover pre-existing issues, but it seems very unfair that they won't insure at all

Unfortunately I think Exotic Direct is the only one that will cover piggies. Maybe set up a direct debit/put away money regularly that you reserve just for any future vet bills?

Most people have a vet fund. The money I make selling all my old stuff (there's A LOT of it) and that of my friends is my vet fund.

I am fortunate to have inheritance savings, which were to eventually put towards a house.... but it seems to be the piggy fund at the moment!

I have only ever heard of the Exotic place... I would agree with others and put a set amount away each month just in case... my recent flurry of selling fleece items is now my vet fund..

When I investigated the insurance with Exotics direct it didn't seem worth it. They didn't cover them for most of the things mine have had and wouldn't cover my five year olds. I had a vet fund which is now empty again!

I didnt feel the insurance was worth it either, we could only find Exotics Direct and they said we would have to pay £20 per month to cover 2 healthy young piggies and the maximum they'd pay out was £2000 per year! My life insurance policy is cheaper and it would pay off my mortgage!
I usually keep about £200 per month budgeted for routine vet costs, and always have more available on my credit card or in my savings in case something major happens!

Yup mines empty too! 😫

I just save in a vet fund which has recently been severely depleted but works better than insurance- at least for me
