I picked up my guinea pig this morning, and I found she was missing a nail on her front foot. It has dry blood all around it. What should I do? Will I give her a bath? She was in her inside hutch last night, which is plastic at the bottom, so I don't know what could have cause it. Help please!

It can happen. One of my sow had a dodgy nail which broke a couple of times and then regrew much thicker. It didn't seem to bother her at all.

Bathe the area with saline solution (1 teaspoon of salt/1 pint of water) for disinfection, as it seems to have stopped bleeding now, hopefully.

One of those things, leave well alone. It will not be the last time it happens to one of your pigs.

One of my girls broke a nail, it grew back dark and thicker at first but now it is starting to grow normally. The vet said that the dark area will just fall off eventually like if a human traps a finger in a door. Don't worry but you might want to look for sticky out bits in the cage in case thats what caused it.
