Recently my guinea pig has had a couple of missing patches of hair under his mouth, he is a VERY messy eater, gets juice from his veggies all down his front, the skin underneath is completely healthy and pink, do you think he's just grooming his dirty hair out?

It is likely that it could be from overgrooming by his companion.

It may be worth to have his teeth checked to see whether there is a cause for the messiness?

His companion passed away a couple of weeks ago ):

He just recently (one week ago) had a full check up and the vet said he was perfectly healthy, he's also always been a messy pig, ever since he was little

I am very sorry for your loss!

It doesn't sound like fungal anyway. I would just keep it under observation and see whether the patches stay at that size or get bigger.

My Llewelyn RIP had a mystery bald patch under his chin for several months; it was neither fungal nor mange mites nor was he a messy eater...

Thank you so much, it's been a horrible couple of weeks ):

Hopefully it's just from grooming the mess away, i'll book another vet appointment if it gets any worse.. thank you!
