Hi,

We lost our four year old guinea pig,:( Tilly last night meaning that we now only have Gizmo also four. They had been together since birth, so we are now worried as to how Gizmo will react by herself. Gizmo was the least active out of the two and we are unsure if she will be stimulated enough without her sister. We are not in a position at the moment to get another one as we are expecting our first baby in a couple of month's time. Would people think it was better for her to be re-homed or as she is older would it be too stressful for her. Any ideas/opinions would be helpful.

Many Thanks.
RIP Tilly 26/02/12

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, know that Tilly is running free over the Rainbow Bridge. Sending love, hugs and wheeks from Treacle, Casper and Junior x
I would see how she is coping on her own, but I wouldn't recommend her being left alone long-term when she has been paired since she was born. :( If you aren't sure, maybe you can contact your local rescue and see if they have any advice for you.
I sadly can't offer much more help than that, but I hope that someone can help you.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Congrats on the baby though. It would be completly up to you about your remaining piggie. But dont make a quick decision. She could do with a friend and it should be easy enought to find a youngster in a rescue or sow date her. If you feel you are not going to be able to give her enough attention then it isnt the wrong thing to do to give her to a rescue either, just have a good think about it.

RIP Tilly. 8...

x.

thank you

Thanks for your comments

I think we will see how she goes for a couple of weeks. Of course I would hate to see Gizmo leave home but i'm conscious of whatever is best for her in the long run.

Whee are really sorry to hear about darling Tilly 8...8...8...
RIP Tilly run free at the bridge, enjoy nibbling on sweet dandelions and clover and have fun popcorning thru the lush green meadows with new friends, you'll be very sadly missed by your mum and dad and sister Gizmo but NEVER ever forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and lots of loves from Glynis, Velvet and Onyx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky ............. :(

CONGRATULATIONS on the upcoming birth of your baby x)x)x)

I'd put a teddy or soft toy in with Gizmo, just make sure no eyes or anything that can be nibbled off rolleyes We did this with our boy when he lost his brother......... he lived for over 2 years by himself. In future i would probably get a friend for the remaining piggie, but i do totally understand your concerns.

Best of luck and let us know how Gizmo goes........ and of course, please announce in general chat when your little one arrives x)
