Hello,
I am looking for some advice, I recently had my 7 month old male guinea pig, Winston, neutered (a week last Friday). Whist the operation appears to have gone well and he seems to be recovering well, over the past 3 days we have noticed that he is making an unusual noise when passing the poo that he then eats (cecotropes I believe). I would describe this as a short grunt but we have never heard him make this noise up until the past 3 days. He is passing lots of poo so don't think he is constipated and he only seems to make this noise when passing the cecotropes not ordinary poo.
He is eating and drinking fine and seems happy enough in himself. Does anyone have any idea of what this may be?
He is due back at the vets this coming week for his 2nd post op check up.
Thanks

Hi!

It is the sign of some pain. Unfortunately, not knowing the background, I can't comment further. If problems persist or get worse, please see a vet.

Could you please remind us what kind of operation he's been through? It would be much easier for us if you kept any updates and possible complications to the same ongoing support thread so we can check up. You can always pick your original thread via the search function under the top bar. Just type in either the title or username.
Please keep in mind that we are all doing this for free in our free time next to our own piggies, a job, family and our own social life. This is a lively forum, so not everybody is around all the time and can ever read all threads. With jumping between lots of different threads every day we are also unlikely to remember what has gone on several days before as we have seen over a 100 new posts since then.
Thank you!

He was neutered, haven't noticed the noise over the past 2 days so maybe getting better
