Guinea pig making strange noises

Hi, my 9 month old guinea pig hasn't been very well. Took him to my vets yesterday and was told he had an inner ear infection so came home with antibiotics.

Tonight, I had to rush him up to the pet hospital as my vets were closed, the vet there has give him pain relief, fluids and something else. But has sent me home with him and said to keep him on his course of antibiotics.

Since we have been home, he has been grinding his teeth and making noises I have never heard before, it's like a gargling and also a chewing noise. It has been pretty constant. He is lying down in his den and won't move. I am going to try and see if he will drink some water soon so he doesn't get dehydrated.

Any advice would be great, should I see how he gets on for the night or go back to the very expensive vets?

Sorry I have no clue about the noise. Is it like he’s constantly chewing? Is the gurgling in his mouth or his stomach? How is his eating in general? If not good I would start syringe feeding him.
Also, what was the other medicine you were given?
 
Guinea pigs metabolise pain relief quickly so it has to be given regularly throughout any illness which will cause pain. Pain can therefore stop them from eating. If he isn’t coming out to eat then he needs help in the form of support syringe feeding regularly to stop his guts from shutting down and if you haven’t been sent home with pain relief, and you’ve only been given antibiotics, then I’d be asking for pain relief to give to him.

What were the signs of him not being well? Did the vet check his teeth before diagnosing an ear infection?
 
On the first visit to the vets was because he was walking in circles, his head was tilted, his eyes were a bit droopy and he was wonky. Most of signs of an ear infection and yes she gave him a full health check whilst I was there.

The reason I had to rush to the vets last night, because he went really still, he can't stand up as he kept falling back down, and because his breathing didn't sound very well.

They gave him an injection for pain relief and I didn't see them check him as they rushed him into the back whilst I was in the waiting area.

Yes I only have the antibiotics the first vet gave me. When he makes the noise, his head moves forward and his mouth opens. I will try and post a video.
