Just an idea I had, not sure how it'll go!

There's a lot of people asking about combos of veg that can be fed each day etc. so I thought we could share our piggy menus, and then get feedback in the form of comments, recommendations, constructive criticism etc.
What do you guys think?

I'll start first.

Today my guys have had...

Breakfast: Curly kale, small amount of parsley, red pepper and of course pellets and hay.

Dinner: They're currently munching on lettuce, carrot, yellow pepper and the ends of baby corn that I trimmed off before my dinner!

Before bed: They'll have a top up of their hay racks with ordinary farmyard hay and some excel dandelion and marigold herbage (Keeps them quiet enough for me to be able to zzz !)

Darwin and Lily's menu for today

Firstly, ours are outdoor piggies so they have access to a run full of fresh grass all day. We move the run every couple of days (it is a small lawn so we never mow it at all any more) so, at this time of year, this constitutes a large proportion of fresh food.

In addition to this, as soon as we have had our breakfast, we will go out and rmove any hay that is left in ther various containers and replace it with fresh (our pet shop sells "green oat hay" at great expense but Darwin and Lily certainly love it. Then they will have a handful of Excel pellets (this is less than they recommend on the packet but more than our pets will eat in a day on top of everything else). We will also scatter a couple of large cauliflower leaves and a handful of lettuice leaves around the run (in total about enough to fill a plastic take-away tub). They are never as interested in eating in the middle of the day so we probably will not feed them again until bed time, when we will do the same again with the hay and pellets and add a broken up carrot and a hadful of dandilion leaves and possibly two small slices of pear as I have one (a very big treat). I will hide the fresh stuff around the hutch and they get very excited exploring all the nooks and crannies to find it.

I must admit that the fresh diet is not very scientifically thought out - it is just based on what I have in, what is on offer in the supermarket and what they like with AS MUCH VARIETY AS POSSIBLE.

Hope this is helpful.

Mine get a handful of pellets in the morning and access to unlimited hay all day.
Then in the evening they get a cup of veg each. It's not exactly a planned diet so to say, it's just whatever takes my fancy when I'm at my local grocers. It will be made up of the following (usually four/five things).

Herbs - Fennel/Parsley/Coriander/Dill/Mint
Spring Greens
Broccoli
Cabbage
Dark leafy lettuce
Cucumber
Apple
Banana
Peppers
Baby Corn
Celery
Green Beans
Carrots
Spinach
Pak Choi
Watercress
Melon
Plantin

And I sprinkle a handfull of dried herbs/plants (dandelion/raspberry/blackcurrant leaves, apple twigs, plantin, coltsfoot) etc.

Goes down a storm!
