I noticed last night that my guinea pig made some sort of grunting noises or hooting sounds while he was eating. He’s never made those noises before and I’m worried something may be wrong. He’s 11 months if that has to do with anything. This morning when he was eating I didn’t notice any noise but should I be concerned? I will take him to the vet if it continues.

Guinea pig airways are very narrow, so you will hear the tiniest bit of obstruction in them. This becomes even more audible when they are eating - that can be as little as a pollen or some hay dust, which gets sneezed out eventually.

It could just be some minor nasal irritation, but if it keeps on recurring I would have a vet check him out for a respiratory infection. Hadley had hooting with a respiratory bug (but not just when eating, on and off in general.)
