Hi All,

For the past week, Archie has not been cleaning his face properly. The white fluid has appeared around his eye as normal but he hasn't been grooming himself with it like he normally would. As you can see from the picture below, the side of his face is sort of sticky and matted from where the fluid has run down. He only has one eye, but we've checked it carefully with the dye strips and cannot see any sign of infection or scratches.

He hurt his foot (the one on the opposite side of his eye) slightly a couple of weeks ago jumping up at the side of the cage and was lifting it up for a few hours but since then he's put full weight on it without a problem and is in no sign of pain or discomfort.. so maybe it's that unless anyone has any other suggestions?

I would not worry unless he is squinting from some irritation in the eye. It is just a bit of cleaning fluid likely mixed with a bit water fluid and washed over instead of going nicely down the tear duct. It happens occasionally.

You can gently dab the area around the eye with a moistened tissue if you really wish to.

OK thank you. This hasn't happened before which is why I was slightly concerned, especially as he only has the one remaining eye! I will keep an eye on his behavior and report back if I notice anything else untoward..
